you just have to multiply 3 1/2 and 3
3 1/2*3=10 1/2

he used 3 1/2 bags of seed for the front......he used 3 times as much for the back
so he used :
3 * 3 1/2 =
3 * 7/2 =
21/2 =
10.5 (or 10 1/2) bags for the back yard <==
