You have a map of an area in France. The scale used is 2cm:8km. You want to ride to a national park. The park is shown on the map as 16 cm away. How far is that in kilometres?

Every cm on the map = 8/2 = 4 km

so 16 cm is equivalent to 4*16 = 64 km Answer

Answer:

64 kilometers.

Explanation:

Remember that when you are converting scales from maps to reality you just need to do a simple rule of three, in this case if 2 cm are equal to 8 kilommeters, how many kilometers will 16 cm be?

(2cm)/(8km)=(16cm)/(x)\\ x=(16cm*8km)/(2cm)\\x=(128cm*km)/(2cm)\\ x=64km

So the answer will be that 16 cm in the map will be 64 kilometers.
