The simplest reason to not believe the world is flat is that there is no sudden drop-off point. If one were to, hypothetically, travel in a straight line from point A back to point A, they would not be able to do so. If the earth were flat, every part of the world would experience daylight and nighttime at the same time, which is not the case.
