Why would Simon Wheeler tell the narrator of the story about Jim Smiley rather than the Reverend Leonidas W. Smiley?

A.He couldn't find the preacher.
B.He wanted to create a problem for Jim Smiley.
C.He knew Jim Smiley wouldn't care in the least that the Reverend knew.
