1. Feudalism is a system of cooperation among peoples which was basically an exchange of land for protection.

2. Summons is a call to appear in court.

3. King John was the king of England in the early 1200's.

4. Standing Army is a group of soldiers ready to do battle. This is more about terminology than a kind of army. An army ready to battle is a standing army.

5. Cleisthenes wrote the proposal that opened up the voting rights to all free adult men in 508 B.C.
