The atomic mass is the NUMBER OF PROTONS PLUS THE NUMBER OF NEUTRONS.
The atom is made up of three sub particles, which are electrons, protons and neutrons. The proton and the neutrons are located inside the nucleus of the atom and they determine the mass of the atom, which is called the atomic mass. The electron orbit round the nucleus and take part in forming chemical bonds with other atoms. The electron is negatively charged, the proton is positively charged and the neutron has no charge.
