This religion dissension means in 1600's, group of people from Protestant Christians who were called Dissenters got separated themselves from the Church of England by differing with the opinions and beliefs. This was because there was lot of reform that was going on in the church and the dissenters also did not and later oppose the interference of the state in the religious matters.
