Two methods are used to clear an obstructed airway of an infant.
1. The infant's head and neck is held with one hand firmly supporting its jaw between thumb and fingers. The infant is laid face down over the forearm with head lower then its chest and held firmly between the thighs. Then 5 distinct and separate back blows and administered between the infants shoulder blades with the heel of ones hands.
2. 5 Chest compressions by placing two fingers of one hand on the breast bone just below the nipple line in a manner similar to CPR chest compressions.
