3x3r+ 3r-168
——————
R+2r-48

So just the variable equals 1
So let’s start on the numerator:
3 to the second power is 3x3 so that is 9
So now u have 9r+3r-168 you put the 9r and 3r together bc they are alike u can say. (They both have the same variables. So then that’s 12r-168

Let’s go to the denominator:
R is equals 1 and that ans 2r has the same variable so 1r+2r ans u get 3r
Your left w/ 3r-48
Put it together u get: 12r-168
————-
3r-48
And I think that’s just ur complete answer bc u can’t add or subtract just # and a variable

Hope this helps!!

First, factor the denominator. The factors are (r+8)(r-6).

Next, Use synth. div. to determine whether either -8 or 6 is a solution of the numerator. For example:
_________________
6 / 3 3 -168
18 126
------------------------------
3 21 - 42 There's a remainder, so 6 is NOT a root.

Determine whether or not -8 is a root of the numerator. If it is, then (x+8) is a factor of both numerator and denominator of the original fraction, and this can be cancelled (but note that r can NOT = -8).
