Move the decimal so there is one non-zero digit to the left of the decimal point. The number of decimal places you move will be exponent on 10. If the decimal is being moved to the right, the exponent will be negative. If the decimal is being moved to the left, the exponent will be positive.
2.14 x 10^5

You need to make it so the number in scientific notation is less than 10, but more than 1.

So,

2.14*10^5 is the answer. I had to move the decimal 5 places.
