Hey there!
If we have m to the fourth power when m equals four, that means we are doing:
4 × 4 × 4 × 4
Let's separate it into two. We can multiply four by four which gets us 16, and then do it again. Then, we square 16 to get 256.

4 to the fourth power is the same as
4×4×4×4=256
