Use the graph to solve the system of linear equations
5x - 4y = 8
- x + 2y = -4

Those are two lines and the solutions are the points where the two line intersect.

*To graph the first line see if x=0 then y is...
5•0-4y=8; -4y=8; y=8/-4=-2 so this line intersects y-axis at y= -2
Also if y=0 then x is ...
5x-4•0=8; x=8/5
*Same for the other line, the graph intersections with the axis are at x=4 and y=-2
So the point of intersection is y=-2
