If BD is bisector of <ABC
then
AD = CD and AB = AC
so
5x - y = x + 13y
simplify
4x = 14y
and
2x + y = 14 +y

2x + y = 14 +y
2x = 14
x = 7


substitute x = 7 into 4x = 14y

4x = 14y
4(7) = 14y
28 = 14y
y = 2

answer
y = 2
