The correct answer is D. Southern European countries were more heavily affected than northern European countries.


It was quite the opposite, the northern countries were more heavily affected than the southern ones, even though there were occasions when repercussions of the famine were felt as far south as Italy. The countries hit the hardest were those in the British isles, northern France, Scandinavia, and the Russian and Baltic regions.

The correct option is D
D. Southern European countries were more heavily affected than northern European countries.
According to records the North was more affected than the south, and essentially all parts of Europe were affected. the famine caused death of millions, rise of prices and left farms completely destroyed to the point that most of these could not produce crops until eight years later.
