The correct answer is the Pardoner.

This question refers to Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, which tell us the story of around 30 pilgrims on their way to Thomas Becket's grave. Each of them has to tell a couple of stories on their way to Canterbury, and on their way back. Unfortunately, Chaucer died before he could finish this work.

Not all characters are noble and good - one of such characters is the Pardoner. He works for the Church - however, he takes advantage of that. He is selling people pardons for their sins, and ripping their money away from them, taking advantage of their stupidity.
