What is the IMA of the inclined plane shown?

1m + 9m = 10m
1m/9m = 1/9
9m/1m = 9
9m - 1m = 8m

What is the IMA of the inclined plane shown? 1m + 9m = 10m 1m/9m = 1/9 9m/1m = 9 9m-example-1

Inclined plane is an example of machine without any moving part that is used to make work easier. It is basically a slope with a flat surface and a raised height on one side as shown above. IMA is the ideal mechanical advantage which is the ratio of the sloping length (L) to the vertical height (H) of the plane.
That is, IMA = L/H
In our case, L= 9 m and the H = 1 m
Therefore, the IMA = 9 m/ 1 m = 9
Hence, the IMA of the above inclined plane is 9.
