1) Because of Emancipation Proclamation African-Americans was eager to fight for their freedom. More than 200000 African-Americans served in the Union army and navy.
2) Emancipation Proclamation prevented the involvement of foreign nations in the Civil War. Britain and France had considered supporting the Confederacy, but Europeans were against slavery.
3) Emancipation Proclamation led to total abolition of slavery and changed focus of the war.
