What do ribosomes do? Are they found freely floating in the cytoplasm? OR are they found attached to another organelle? OR both?

The major function of ribosomes is to synthesize and make proteins. Although many ribosomes are attached to membranes of the Endoplasmic Reticulum, others occur as free particles size scattered throughout the cytoplasm. In both cases, these particles are composed of protein and RNA molecules
