If you assume the sequence is geometric, then the common ratio will be

\sqrt[3]{ (3 (5)/(9))/(-12)} = \sqrt[3]{- (8)/(27)} = - (2)/(3)
Then the boxes left-to-right are
.. 8p, -(5 1/3)p, ..., -(2 10/27)p

I don't know how you've been taught to describe the pattern, but it amounts to
.. A → (-2/3)×A
