On Monday, there was no snow on the ground in Buffalo, New York. On Tuesday, three inches of snow fell. On Wednesday, a half an inch of snow melted. On Thursday, two and a half more inches fell. On Friday, another inch and a half melted. How much now was left on the ground Friday night?

Monday - 0
Tuesday - +3
Wednesday- ( -0.5 )
Thursday - + 2.5
Friday- (- 1.5)
When add all of it together you get 3.5.
3.5 inches of snow were left on the ground.

Answer: 3½

Step-by-step explanation: Solving the problem by adding and subtracting to get the amount of snow that fell and melted and was left, we get the following:

Monday = no snow (0inch)

Tuesday = + 3inch

Wednesday = 3 - ½ = 2½ inch

Thursday = 2½ + 2½ = 5 inch

Friday = 5 - 1½ = 3½ inches snow left
