Japan’s aggressive policies in China resulted in tense relations with the U.S. Japan had territorial ambitions and viewed American superiority over the Pacific an obstacle. The U.S acted on Japan’s aggression via trade embargo. When Japan conquered Vietnam, the U.S cut 90% oil supply to Japan. When Japan continued the war in China, U.S cut steel and other vital imports to the country.
