say the number is .296 , the nearest tenth is .297. You round the second number. If it is higher or at 5 , you round it. If the number was .294 , the answer would be .290.

Hello!

To round to the nearest tenth, look at the number to the right of the tenths place (the number in the hundredths place). If it is a number from zero to four, you do not need to change the tenths place number. If it is a number from five to nine, you round the tenths place up a number.

For example:

0.34 rounded to the tenths place is 0.3 because the hundredths place is a four.

0.19 rounded to the tenths place is 0.2 because the hundredths place is a nine.

I hope this helps :))
