Amount of water hold by each identical container =
(1)/(3) of a liter

Amount of water hold by each identical container =
(1)/(3) * 1 liter

=
(1)/(3) liter

Let 'n' be the number of containers that hold 1 liter of water.

According to the question,

(1)/(3) * n =1

n =
3 * 1

n =3

So, 3 containers are needed to hold 1 liter of water.
