3x2 - 10x - 2= 0

discriminant is here

b2 - 4ac

= (-10)2 - 4.3.(-2)

= 100+24

= 124

the discriminant is the value of b²-4ac
rewrite the equation in standard form: 3x²-10x-2=0
b=-10, a=3, c=-2
b²-4ac=(-10)²-4*3*(-2)=100+24=124
124 is the answer.
