How many feet of fence will it take to enclose a rectangular plot 30 feet by 46 feet if an opening of 5 feet is to be left for a gate?

This is essentially the perimeter of the enclosure, less 5' for the gate.

Rectangle: 30*46
Perimeter = 2(30+46)=2*76=152'
less 5' for gate, so
Fence required = perimeter -5 = 152-5 = 147'
