the pitfal that writers should avoid is: Providing too much exposition
Exposition is a comprehensive explanation of a certain story or idea.
Backstory should only include information that lead to the actual content of the story/idea. Providing too much exposition would only fed the reades with many pieces of information that irrelevant to the main content.
