Was the compromise of 1877 another cynical political deal of the era or a wise adjustment to avoid a renewal of serious sectional conflict? explain.

It was a cynical deal indeed. The deal was  to remove soldiers from the south in exchange for getting support for presidency. Which basically meant that the President allowed for racism and oppression to flourish for a long time in exchange for getting political power.
