Democracy is a government system in which people vote for their leaders. There are two types of democracy. The two types are Parliamentary Democracy and Presidential Democracy. In a parliamentary democracy, voters elect members of the legislature. Then the members of the legislature choose the prime minister, who is the head of government. In a presidential democracy, voters elect the leader of the government directly. This leader is known as the president.
