The jail was located in Birmingham, Alabama.
Due to his participation in the civil rights demonstration in Alabama, Martin Luther King Jr. was imprisoned. This is where he wrote his famous Letter from Birmingham Jail, where he states how black people should fight for their rights in a nonviolent way.
