You find a unit rate by dividing fractions.


Ex:


4/5 x 9/5 = 36/25

5/9 x 9/5= 45/45


36/25

36/25

Whole number example:

5 for every 6

5/1 x 1/6= 5/6

6/1 x 1/6 = 6/6

6/6=1

5/6
