In order to verify whether the patient suffers from hematuria, the provider should perform a more detailed urinalysis, involving a microscopic examination. Using microscopy the healthcare professional will be able to verify the presence of blood in the urine. If this turns to be positive as well, then the provider should do renal function testing, urinary tract imaging and cystoscopy.
