A client is receiving parenteral nutrition through a central venous catheter. as the nurse is changing the dressing at the catheter site, the client asks why this type of catheter is being used instead of a regular peripheral iv. which is the best response by the nurse to explain the use of the central venous catheter?

The nurse could say that using a central venous catheter is better for prolonged patients because the regular peripheral IV should be changed every 72 to 94 hours. It will be also be better to use this with large dosages of IV, fluid and medicine.
