There are many major events in Rick Riordan's new bestseller that really change the outcome of the novel and your perspective altogether.
Here they are:
1) Postponing Ragnarok and trapping Loki in a walnut and punishing him for eternity
2) Flyting against Loki
3) Dinner with the Odin, Frigg, Frey, and the rest of the Aesir gods and goddesses
4) Stealing Kvasir's Mead from Suttung and Baugi (giants) and taking the mead to stop Loki
5) Hearthstone's dad because he had transformed into a ring dragon and the ring dragon needed to be destroyed. (the ring dragon was Hearthstone's dad)
6) Alex turns out to be Magnus's, boyfriend/girlfriend.
