A nonactive person should go swimming because swimming is fun! Many resorts have pools because they are so fun, and to secretly get people to exercise after eating too much at the buffet. The good thing about swimming is that there are few chances of spraining any joints, and the only serious complication from swimming is drowning when you're first learning. Swimming is a great exercise and great for those learning to multitask, given you have to kick your legs and move your arms at the same time. There are so many benefits to swimming. Swimming helps keep your heart rate up, but at the same time, you don't run out of breath quickly. Swimming takes some of the impact stress off your body. Swimming builds endurance, muscle strength, and cardiovascular fitness. Those who swim often maintain healthy body weight, and those who are overweight who swim lose weight at a decent pace.
By swimming, you build your muscles and strength. You give your whole body a workout. There isn't a singular part of your body that is left out when you're swimming. Swimming is a way to relax peacefully and alleviate stress, which is another reason why resorts include a pool. Swimming has become one of the most popular sports in Australia and is also a sport in the Olympics that occurs every four years. It's one of the many ways to have fun, keep fit, and make friends. If someone decides to make swimming their career, they have to be fast and have certain skills. Some of these basic skills are in the following swim test. Before taking this swim test, or swimming at all, make sure you warm-up and stretch, and drink water before jumping in.
Swim Test:
1. Jump into the pool, either using a diving board or jumping from the side of the pool. It's best to try both. Jump in, submerge fully, and return to the surface. When returning to the surface, begin swimming immediately without pushing off the pool wall.
2. Swim back and forth from one side of the pool to the other twice, meaning you'd be swimming in a straight line four times. Each time you swim a straight line, try every one of the strokes: front crawl, breaststroke, backstroke, and butterfly. The swimmer's arms must achieve full extension on every stroke. The swimmer isn't allowed to stop unless the swimmer reaches the other side of the pool, or if they are turning to breathe.
3. Exit the pool without assistance using either the wall or pool ladder. No stairs are allowed.
4. The hardest task of them all - the swimmer must do 4 laps in 3 minutes, going in a straight line just like in step 2. This time, they can swim however is fastest for them.
