I think most historians would disagree. Everything related to the U.S. Civil War is principally connected to slavery issues and emancipation or freedom of the slaves. The conflicting powers on both sides could no longer find temporary solutions to a permanent problem that undermined the fundamentals of the U.S. Constitution, namely freedom.
