Explanation:

For x:

We have the hypotenuse and are trying to find the angle opposite to 45 degrees. Using sine = opposite / hypotenuse we get sin45=x/24 so x = 24sin45 = 24 * √2/2 = 12√2

Beacuse the angle is 45 degrees we know that the the missing angle is also 45 degrees (180 - 90 - 45 = 45) so x and y must be the same (the triangle is isosceles) so y is also 12√2
