The assertive message format is a type of communication that is often used when a person wants to clearly communicate his thoughts or distress or resolve a conflict in a respectful way. It has five elements: behaviour, interpretation, feeling, consequence, intention.
These two phrases are examples of the element of interpretation. This element focuses on the meaning someone gives to someone else's behaviour or acts.
