The answer would be h + (h+2.5)= 22. H represents the number of hours William worked. H+2.5 represents the number of hours José worked because he worked 2.5 more hours (H) than William so you add 2.5 to William's hours worked. You then add both together to get the total of 22 hours.

The answer would be h+(h+2.5)=22
The h represents Williams hours and the h+22 represents jose's hours. Together, they add to 22 hours :)
