You simply have to subtract to find how much is left. To do that, you need to have common denominators. So, let's just convert everything into improper fractions:

24 (1)/(4) = (97)/(4)

1(1)/(2) = (3)/(2)

Now, let's multiply the second one by 2 to get a common denominator:

(3)/(2)* (2)/(2) = (6)/(4)

Now, let's subtract:

(97)/(4)- (6)/(4) = (91)/(4)

91 goes into 4 22 and 3/4 times. Also written as:

22 (3)/(4)

That's your answer!
