60-58.25= 1.75... 1.75 divided by 7 (days in a week) = 0.25 inches per day

Answer: -0.25 in, per day.

Explanation:

Given : The water level in a swimming pool decreases from 60 in to 58.25 in in one week.

Here Initial water level = 60 in

Final water level = 58.25 in

And one week = 7 days

We assume that the water level changes at a constant rate.

Then the rate of change in water level will be given by :-

\text{Rate of change}=\frac{\text{Final position-Initial position}}{\text{Time}}

\text{Rate of change}=\frac{58.25\ in - 60\ in}{\text{7}}\\\\\Rightarrow\ \text{Rate of change}=(-1.75)/(7)=-0.25\ in/day

Hence, the water level decrease each day = -0.25 in, per day.
