they spent $60 on the children 0 adults and 3 seniors or it would be uneven and they would be paying extra 5 dollars unless they had 13 childrenĀ

they obviously didn't get the family membership pass.
Let c be the number of children, a be the number of adults
5c+30a=185
c+a=12 =>c=12-a
5(12-a)+30a=185
60-5a+30a=185
25a=125
a=5
c=12-5=7
there are 7 children and 5 adults.
