2y - 4x = 5.....add 4x to both sides
2y = 4x + 5....divide both sides by 2
y = 2x + 5/2 <==

Note the equal sign. What you do to one side, you do to the other. Isolate the y. Add 4x to both sides

2y - 4x (+4x) = 5 (+4x)

2y = 4x + 5

Next, divide 2 from both sides

(2y)/2 = (4x + 5)/2

y = 2x + 2.5

hope this helps
