During the 1920s the United States was governed by three Republican Presidents: Warren Harding, Calvin Coolidge and Herbert Hoover. Under their administration the U.S. government was committed to these pair of economic policies:

A- Laissez Faire which means "allow to do" in French. It was understood that the government should allow the economy to grow freely without interventionism. This implied that there was a free market policy and the government was not to interfere in economic affairs.

B- A return to normalcy was the second policy. Under the slogan "America´s only business is business" Herbert Hoover helped propel forward the idea of a return to prosperity and big businesses.
