Why is Hammurabi's code important?

A. It was the first time any rules or society attempted to use written law that applied to everyone.

B. It was a major step forward for civilization because it protected the weak from the strong.

C. Hammurabi based his code of law on the religious principles of the Sumerians.

D. Many of the laws in use today come from Hammurabi's code.

A. All other laws written before were specific to certain people. and many written laws were completely forgotten!
