One factor that contributed to the rise of sectionalism after the war of 1812 was TARIFFS/TAXES placed on goods coming from Northern factories.

Hello!

One of the main factors that contributed to sectionalism is that during 1800 the North of the United States began to industrialize its economy and started to build factories while the South concentrated on agriculture carried out by slaves. This caused that the North and the South grew further away since the North wanted to impose a tariff that would help their business but it would damage the South economy. Another factor is that the North criticized the Southern system of slavery because they considered that it did not bring prosperity.
