Answer:

The y intercept is -54/7

Explanation:

We can find the slope

m = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

= (-2--7)/(-8--1)

= (-2+7)/(-8+1)

=5/-7

= -5/7

We can use the point slope form of the equation to find the equation of the line

y-y1 = m(x-x1)

y--7 = -5/7 (x--1)

y+7 = -5/7 (x+1)

Distribute the -5/7

y+7 = -5/7 x - 5/7

Subtract 7 from each side

y+7-7= -5/7 x -5/7 -7

y = -5/7x -5/7 -7

Get a common denominator of 7

y = -5/7x -5/7 -49/7

y = -5/7x -54/7

This is in the form

y= mx+b, where b is the y intercept

The y intercept is -54/7
