Answer:

a series of social relationships that link a person directly to others and therefore indirectly to still more people.

Step-by-step explanation:

Social network will occurs naturally every time you interact with other people. Since you do this with different group of people and those group of people also interacted with another group of people, eventually it will formed a giant web that linked one individual with another, which is what we called as social network.

In professional setting, social network often used to expand your opportunities, which helped you rise up faster within an economic hierarchy.

For example, let's say that you work as a Lawyer for a small firm.

But, after your work hours is done, you spent time in a bar which frequently visited by another lawyers from other firms, and You managed to make a few friends from that bar. Hence, a social network is formed.

1 Months later, that new friend of of yours call you and offer you a new project from a large corporation that you'd never get if you only spend your time working on your small firm. We can say that your friendship with that new friend is the only reason you get the job.

This is how we use social net work to increase our opportunities.
