i have to use substitution

x=0 , y=2

Explanation:

x=y-2

4x+y =2

We can substitute the first equation in for x into the second equation

4*(y-2) +y =2

Distribute the 4

4y-8 +y =2

Combine like terms

5y-8 =2

Add 8 to each side

5y-8+8 = 2+8

5y= 10

Divide each side by 5

5y/5 =10/5

y=2


But we still need to find x

x = y-2

x = 2-2

x=0
