Answer: n=2
Steps:
p^n/p^8 = p^-6

p^n = p^8 × p^-6

p^n = p^(8-6)

p^n = p^2

n=2

\text{Use}\ (a^n)/(a^m)=a^(n-m).\\\\(p^n)/(p^8)=p^(-6)\\\\p^(n-8)=p^(-6)\iff n-8=-6\qquad\text{add 8 to both sides}\\\\\boxed{n=2}
