I need help to this question:Country Carpets charges $22 per square yard for carpeting, and an additional installation fee of $100.City Carpets charges $25 per square yard for the same carpeting, and an additional installation fee of $70

Let us assume that the number of square yards for carpeting used be x.

Let us assume that the total cost of the charged by the companies be y.

As given

Country Carpets charges $22 per square yard for carpeting, and an additional installation fee of $100.

Than the equation becomes

y = 22x + 100

As given

City Carpets charges $25 per square yard for the same carpeting, and an additional installation fee of $70.

Than the equation becomes

y = 25x + 70

Than the two equations are

y = 22x + 100 and y = 25x + 70

Than compare the two equations are

22x + 100 = 25x + 70

25x - 22x = 100 - 70

3x = 30


x = (30)/(3)

x = 10 square yards .

Therefore the total cost charged by the two companies will be the same for 10 square yards of carpeting .
